Temple Floors, Dungeon Refresh & Scriptorium Updates

Essentials Drive Code has been updated - Access Here

First up, sorry it’s been quiet on here since May. I’ve had my head down on a big pile of background work that needed doing in preparation for the future of the Membership (excited), and it’s taken a lot longer than I planned. All good stuff though, and it’s finally at the point where I can show you some of it :)

Read this bit first - the drive is being reorganised

I’m rebuilding and reorganising the whole Essentials drive. Everything that was there has been moved into a - Processing folder while I work through it, so if a folder you know isn’t where you left it, that’s where it’s gone. Nothing has been deleted.

As each set comes out of processing it gets renamed properly, converted to 3MF, coloured, and set up to work in Scriptorium - and then it lands in its new home. The new folders are prefixed by setting so the drive stays tidy as it grows, which is why you’ll see:

  • Essentials - Fantasy - Dungeon - the new dungeon floors
  • Essentials - Fantasy - Temple - the new temple floors

More will appear alongside those as I get through the rest. If you can’t find something in the meantime, shout in the Help channel on the Discord and I’ll point you at it.

To be clear about how this gets done - the processing work happens as needed and in spare time around everything else. It isn’t going to eat into new releases or hold the tavern up. Sets get pulled out of processing when something needs them, or when I’ve got a gap.

DUN walls are next on the list for the full treatment, since they’re the obvious partner to the floors that just landed.

Essentials - Fantasy - Temple

Fantasy - Temple/Floors/Slab
Fantasy - Temple/Floors/Slab Cracked
Fantasy - Temple/Floors/Slab Runed

There’s a whole new Temple floor set on the drive - 102 floor tiles in a slab style with cracked variations running through the set, plus 24 runes including wall and corner versions.

The runes are set up so you can split them to parts in your slicer and delete the base components, leaving just the slab and the rune. If you’d rather use them as overlays on tiles you’ve already printed, that’s the way to do it :)

Essentials - Fantasy - Dungeon

Fantasy - Dungeon/Floors/Cobbles Spaced

A new Cobbles Spaced set has been added - 18 floor tiles.

Dungeon Cobbles Spaced

Every dungeon floor tile has also been reworked - 308 tiles in total. They’re now multi colour, and set up properly for Scriptorium so they snap and pivot the way they should.

Some have also picked up flat top printing versions. If you print at larger layer heights these give a much nicer finish on the top surface.

Scriptorium

Check out the latest Beta here Scriptorium

The coding goblins have been busy. Scriptorium has had some major updates since May - multiple levels, much improved asset library handling, grouping, layer highlighting, a complete snapping overhaul and chunks, effects, plus a long list of smaller things. It’s a much more rounded app now and honestly feels like a different piece of software to the one I put in front of you in May, I'm so proud of their work 👺

Scriptorium Editor BETA v1.6.1

A lot of the time has gone into the user experience - trying to keep it as simple as possible to use while it does a lot more. That part has been really fun to work with them on and I hope it’s paid off.

I do need to make a proper video walkthrough of it all. Until I get that done I’m happy to answer anything in the Scriptorium beta thread on the Discord.

Selfishly, it’s also become the tool that I can build the layouts and renders with which saves me so much set up time that it’s already earned its keep!

Have a play - there’s a sample .Scrip on the drive

If you haven’t tried Scriptorium yet, this is the easiest way in. I’ve put a sample layout on the drive at Essentials - Scriptorium/Samples/Scriptorium Sample 001.scrip. Open it up and the whole build loads laid out and ready for you to have a play around with.

One thing before you do - it’s built from the new Fantasy - Dungeon floors, so make sure you’ve grabbed those above first. If you’re still on the older files it won’t be able to find everything it needs.

Scriptorium layouts get their own folder at the top of the drive rather than living inside a theme, because layouts are going to start mixing sets - a single build might pull from Dungeon and Temple at the same time, and that only gets more true from here :)

Let me know how you get on with it in the Scriptorium beta thread on the Discord - and if it breaks, even better, tell me how.

Why all the groundwork?

All of the above is getting things ready for a new monthly release format I’ll be starting once the tavern is finished. I don’t want to give too much away yet, but that’s where the last couple of months have gone - the files, the folders, the colours and the app all needed to be in place first (so tired, lol).

Next up

Straight back onto the tavern and making some access to the cellar - that’s the priority now and I'm back on it today.

Apologies again for being light on the updates here. With this lot finally in place things should be a lot more streamlined from now on.

Ian :)
